Help Support My Mom’s Stroke Recovery

A few weeks ago, our lives changed in an instant when my mom suffered not just one, but two strokes within the span of two weeks. Since then, she has been battling the overwhelming effects that have taken a toll on her body and daily life. She is struggling with speech impairments, her head uncontroablly bobbles without warning, episodes where her face becomes droopy on both sides, and painful muscle tightness in her hands that makes even the simplest tasks difficult. Walking long distances is nearly impossible, and every day presents a new challenge.

Despite these severe and life-altering symptoms, Medicare has denied any assistance because the strokes do not appear on scans. Without physical proof, they refuse to provide coverage for the rehabilitation she so desperately needs. We are in the process of appealing this decision, but as many of you know, these processes take time, and there is no guarantee that we will win. In the meantime, my dad is left carrying the weight of medical bills, daily expenses, and the emotional toll of watching the love of his life struggle with no clear path forward.

Right now, my mom needs access to a rehab facility or home health care to give her the best chance at recovery. Without professional rehabilitation, she won’t have the support she needs to regain her strength, work on her speech, and learn to manage the physical challenges caused by these strokes. Unfortunately, without insurance coverage, these options are financially out of reach.
