Jose was diagnosed with covid-19 on may 16th 2021 and was rushed to UMC by ambulance on may 19th where he was put in icu and was later intubated within 24 hours. Since then he has had seizures, multiple strokes, and both lungs collapsed. He has had chest tubes put in both lungs. After 13 days he had a tracheotomy where he would continue on his ventilator. Since then he has had to learn to walk, eat, talk, and do basic motor skills again. After 71 days the ventilator was removed and is now on a trache collar and is breathing room air! He has gotten orders to be removed out of icu and to step down. A facility was talked about but is not longer needed so he will be coming home to do home healthcare. Jose still has a long road to recovery ahead of him but is still fighting so hard! We thank everyone for the continued prayers for Jose and our family!
