Fighting for Eli

Hi, my name is Angela Garner and I am starting a Go Fund Me to benefit my younger sister Jamie, her husband Eli, and their two daughters, (my nieces) Carmen and Jayden. My brother in law Eli, was admitted to the hospital on April 21st, with a very painful bout of diverticulitis. He was discharged home on April 25th, 2023, but was readmitted three days later on April 28, 2023 and has remained hospitalized since. Eli continues to suffer from a large infected absess in his stomach, which has required two different drains to be placed to promote his healing process. He continues to experience fevers and is on his third trial of antibiotics to help treat a very resistant bacteria. He is very weak and we are unclear how much longer he will remain in the hospital. It is also unclear how long his recovery will be before he can go back to work. He will require a section of his colon to be removed, but the doctor ideally wants to allow for him to heal, regain strength and loose weight prior to surgery. Eli unfortunately has no more paid sick leave, no more paid vacation days and his employer does not offer long or short term disability. My sister Jamie works full time as a medical assistant, but relies on both their incomes to cover rent and their living expenses. While my family and I continue to offer our support, we wanted to reach out to friends, family and colleagues to ask if you would consider helping us to raise funds to help my sister and Eli cover medical expenses and lost wages. Any amount is deeply appreciated and there is no amount too small. If you are not able to donate, we ask that you please keep Eli, my sister Jamie and their girls in your prayers. I do not wish these circumstances on anyone, and it especially painful when you see your family that you love in such a vulnerable situation. It can happen to anyone, at anytime. Life should have far less judgment, far more acceptance, kindness, community and love.
