When I originally started this GoFundMe, it was for dental expenses. In the opening paragraph, I stated,
"One minute, you think you’re doing the right thing for your sanity and mental health by taking an unconventional, nontraditional path to pursue your dreams (Childcare Provider, Writer, Model, Creative)."
Till it’s time to pay for medical expenses, like dental care, whether I was working a job or not, timing has never been on my side."
Since then, I've been grappling with the reality and pressure of maintaining stability. For a second, I almost thought I should leave Childcare and "pivot" to earn more for stability and a secure future. But the truth is—I love this work. I believe in it. Now, more than ever, I see how urgent it is to protect and scale what I’ve built. The threat of policies being stripped away—Section 8, child care subsidies, or public support systems—has shown me that I need to build something sustainable, not just for me, but for the families I serve, and for the children who deserve intentional, affordable, safe care.
Why I’m Fundraising
This fundraiser is about building a foundation—one that allows Ms. Shana Care & Services to withstand unstable legislation, economic hardship, and unpredictable change while continuing to offer care to working-class families, single parents, low-income households, and “gap” families who often get overlooked.
What Your Support Helps Fund
- Legal setup, business licensing, insurance $1,500
- Rent or deposit for a new space (3–6 months) $6,000–$8,000
- Supplies, furniture, toys, safety materials $2,000
- Field trips, workshops, guest facilitators $2,500
- Marketing materials, digital branding, signage $1,000
- Emergency operating cushion & flexibility $2,000–$4,000

This will allow me to stabilize and upscale Ms. Shana Care & Services into a full-time child care and youth enrichment hub in Chicago.
