Wheels For Dad

Donation protected
My dad, Brian, is the hardest worker I have ever met. He turns 65 this month, and with his birthday, he is planning his retirement after a lifetime of working more than full time and taking care of others before himself.

Three years ago, he took out a $6000 loan to buy my old car off of me when I was getting ready to sell it. Truthfully, the car wasn't worth that much, but I was a new college graduate and a new high school teacher on a small salary, so I think he just wanted to be generous and help me out. Brian is always trying to help people out. Just a year and a half after he got the car, the engine now needs to be replaced.

Brian has taken care of me my whole life, but I am now a graduate student with a fixed income, and my spouse and I just had a huge expense of our own, leaving us unable to support him this time. Please consider donating even a few dollars, as meeting this goal will go a long way towards long-term financial independence for my dad.

Recently, he became a first-time home owner, which he has always wanted, but with this came a string of poor circumstance that has made things financially challenging. He had to leave his secure job in Massachusetts to live at his new home full time in New Hampshire, and since then has not been able to find reliable work to sufficiently replace his income. He bought a used truck to be more independent with moving large items, and for work as his trade is building maintenance. Unfortunately, this truck is currently his only mode of transportation, and all of his work is currently 30+ miles away. Trucks, as we know, are terrible on gas, and with gas prices the way they are right now, getting to and from work has been much more expensive than it ought to be.

If my dad could buy a new engine and have use of the car, he could save a LOT of money in travel costs for work, therefore being able to keep more of his income, to be able to pay down his other debt. He plans to begin social security in a few months, at which point he would be on a fixed income. This little bit of wiggle room would go a long way towards helping him remain food secure, and able to support himself.
