Our daughter is Ruby, she is 16 years old, and we live in Bakersfield Ca. She is currently at the CHOC (Childrens Hospital of Orange County) she has been here since January 3, 2023. She has streptococcus pneumonia with pleural effusion, which is, bacterial (specific- streptococcus) pneumonia with fluid surrounding the lung, her left lung to be specific. So much fluid that it is pushing her heart, spine and airways out of place and has caused that lung to collapse. She currently has a chest tube to drain the fluid and the prognosis is good, but it will take time. She has a team of specialists working around the clock for the best possible treatments. She is expected to be here for another week, maybe longer depending on how her body responds. I am self-employed and have two other jobs, all of which I only get paid when I work. Any help is greatly appreciated as this is causing a financial strain, nothing is more important than Ruby getting the care she needs and us being with her.
