Musicians want to perform–
People want to hear live music.
Filmmakers and artists want to share their work–
We want to see it.
So what’s going on?
The big Men in the sky have decided that it is best for them if we stay home and watch their expensive movies by ourselves.
Our goal is to create an ecosystem that thrives on interaction, not isolation.
Not So Red Sea is an artist’s collective reshaping community engagement through the distribution of physical media - 2” wooden hard drives. Once you have one hard drive, you have access to every other drive in our physical collection through trading (think baseball cards).
We partner with:
- Film festivals (where we distribute drives of work from local filmmakers),
- DIY music events (where we distribute drives with new album releases),
- Galleries (where we distribute drives of work from local artists),
- Immersive experiences to provide a platform for artists to bring their work to life.
Not So Red Sea is, at its core, a group of artists that is excited about the future, and excited about each other. Right now we need a little bit of funding to begin our grand experiment. The financial support we receive from this GoFundMe will go immediately towards purchasing flash drives and producing events at CalArts, so we can begin to see how people interact authentically with our ideas. Anything you can give to help us grow from a seed to a sprout will be the most vital funding we ever receive.
Please feel free to reach out, this is our favorite thing to talk about! :)
Thank you for your consideration,
Joshua, Graham, Zach, Rafe, Landon, and Melanie.
