Nosara Tech Center - Technology Resources for the Community

Hi everyone!
An update on the ongoing project which has funding for the basic areas but during this process we found that we need to get a security gate and add a couple of safety features to the front of the building. We have an immediate short-term need for no more than $5,000 so that we can make the property safe and continue to finish this project very soon. We look forward to having this open and available to the public within the next few months as we're finally putting the finishing touches.
A security gate cost approximately 1,400
In addition we need to put accessibility features on the entrance because the city changed the road and we need to make sure it's safe to cross from the road onto our entrance of the building as well as making it safe to walk. But generally just getting security features like lights and cameras and just the finishing touches on the front side that will make it safe for everybody as we come to the final phases of finishing this.
Many people come to Nosara and dream of helping the local community, and this community is richer for its efforts.
Costa Rica is a place where there are amazing opportunities for members of the community to thrive but there is a deficit in the educational system that has left the current generation short on some of the core essentials.
Building a Technical Education Center focusing on technology skills fills a unique gap. We intend to give a space where technology resources can be available to give a variety of different visitors a place to meet in an educational setting.
The Center will provide
- Free technology and vocational training for Tico students of all ages
- includes math, grammar, reading and writing comprehension
- supervised computer-based training and tutoring
- Virtual reality tools for expanded training
- conference/meeting room
- 3 internet sources for reliable internet
- Tynker, Lego and Nintendo as well as several other companies provide learning resources that we intend to integrate into our programs.
- individual educators can teach their students topics that can benefit from a technology-dependent setting.
- ALL Donors will be included in future benefits of using the center for themselves. This includes conference space with a full-tech backdrop for important meetings, discussions, training and more.
- ALL donors will also receive special rates and some free services
The core of a child's growth is to learn some of the essentials like math, tech, cognitive thinking, and problem-solving. The tools here will help to challenge and to grow these traits in participants of all ages.
The good news is that the training facility is already half finished, and the man behind the dream is Chuc Mason, the self-described ‘geek’ behind Unleash Your Geek, Inc.
Chuc brought his company to Costa Rica in 2010 and settled in Nosara in 2012. Working overtime for 10+ years to provide solutions to people’s various types of technology needs the program has evolved to serve 1000s of people.
He has an extensive career spanning 30 years from corporate to home networks, network design, cyber security, hardware, and software issues that are key to our modern life.
Chuc knows more than anyone there is a severe shortage of technical skills here, where we are connected through technology and increasingly dependent on it for our income.
This center will allow a place where people can come and get assistance as well as provide a space for learning.
