Hi my name is Rev. Charles Tyree. I'm a volunteer police chaplain and church pastor in Norwich, CT. Our police station is half the size it needs to be for the 100 officers and staff who work there. There is no room for lockers for our new female officers. The radio room for our 911 dispatch center is barely being cooled by a $25 fan! We have no room for a social worker or a special cell to protect mentally ill people who get arrested. There is no large room to meet with community groups. File cabinets with records are in every room. The building was built for 45 people. Our City Council unanimously approved a $44.7 million referendum to address this critical need. Another chaplain and I have been tasked with letting the voters know WHY this new building is so vital to their safety and to the future of our children and our officers. We need money to purchase billboard space and lawn signs to let voters know about this need before the Referendum is voted on November 7th, 2023. PLEASE HELP US GET THE WORD OUT TO OUR CITY.
