Hi all,

My name is Michael Scorcia. I'm a senior at Binghamton University and a native of Long Island, NY, where I attended Northport High School. This message is written on behalf of the Northport Midnight Run group.

In 2021, some friends and I joined Students for 60k, a humanitarian club based out of Northport High School. Through this experience, we were exposed to a variety of community-based volunteer initiatives. Perhaps the most formative experience for us was participating in SF60k’s annual Midnight Run. Midnight Run is a charity based in Dobbs Ferry, NY, that partners with homeless shelters in New York City and connects them with volunteer groups across the metropolitan area.

For the past 3 years, our group has continued this tradition after graduating from NHS, raising thousands of dollars that have directly benefited homeless individuals in NYC. As we enter year 4 of our mission, we’re seeking to partner more deeply with the community to make as big an impact as possible.

We are primarily seeking monetary donations—used to purchase winter clothing, toiletries, and hot meals for our beneficiaries. Direct donations of warm winter clothing are also highly valuable, as they are crucial for the unhoused during the bitter winter months in New York.
