Northern Line Walk Raising Funds for Creative Arts Worshops
Donation protected
As students on the ‘Applied Theatre’ course at The BRIT School we work to make the arts accessible to as wide a range of people as possible because we understand how vital theatre and exploring performance is to emotional, personal and social growth.
The Applied Theatre course carries this firmly within its values and aims to give as many members of society an opportunity to explore the arts whether that is through a creative workshop (led by us the students) or watching a show (performed by us the students) or sometimes even both! We use our training to bring these experiences to those who cannot usually access this whether that is due to an economic or social barrier.
Over the course of our 2 years at The BRIT School we have worked with multiple primary schools in Croydon, Adults living with AEN (Additional Educational Needs), Adults living with dementia, Patients in end of life care, Pupils in referral units and more, providing them all with free access to the arts.
For our very final project on the course we are putting on a show called ‘HERsteria’ exploring the objectification of women through time and alongside this we will be throwing a ‘community festival’ where we will be using themes from the show to create and lead workshops with multiple community groups.
We are planning to do workshops with the theme of ‘empowerment’ to 3 different client groups : primary school students, secondary school students and adults living with AEN as we believe it is vital that as wide a corner of society as possible gets opportunities to explore the arts like we have at The BRIT School.
By donating to this GoFund Me you will be supporting 5 of our students walk the length of the Northern Tube Line all the way from Morden to High Barnet (23 Miles, 8 Hours!) and the money will then go towards providing us with the highest quality resources possible to use within our workshops, giving the participants the best experience we can and ensuring that we can leave a lasting impact on their own self perception and how they go about society.
Any donation is so greatly appreciated and we thank you for reading this and helping us make our way to this goal! Our walk is taking place on the 12th April so we hope to have reached our goal of £300 so that this money can be put into the resources fund by this day!
Thank you so much!
