This is a citizen lead lawsuit, we are a team of residents from Norman, OK challenging the state constitution. This case asks a straightforward but important constitutional question:
Did this bond require a 60% vote under Article 10, Section 26 of the Oklahoma Constitution?
Proposition 5 passed with approximately 54% of the vote. The issue now is whether the City used the correct constitutional framework, or whether a higher voter threshold was required before approving tax-backed debt.
This is not about whether you support or oppose a homeless shelter. It’s about whether the Constitution was followed.
Legal challenges like this move quickly, and there is a limited window to act. Now that the case has been filed, we need to ensure it is properly funded and handled the right way.
William Coker will be overseeing the transfer of the funds to the lawyer from the account that has been already been provided. All involved are citizens of Norman, Oklahoma.
