Hello! My name is Lucas Newport. I am raising money for my Eagle Scout Project to help normalize autism. I have identified three speakers to educate students and teachers in Boone County Schools on why autism is not something to fear or make fun of. It’s simply a different way of thinking. Having a friend reduces early death in autistic children by 50%. I worry about my brother Finn when I see him try to make friends and they run away or don’t talk to him. Help me educate others by using professionals with autism to share their experiences. The speakers that have said they are willing to participate in my project are TED Talk Speaker Dr. Daniel Wendler, magician Cody Clark, and Time Magazine’s top 100 heroes of 2011 Temple Grandin. Speaking fees, travel, and accommodations are estimated to be $7,500.00. Any additional money will be donated to the special education program at Boone County Schools.
