Kindred Souls United Mutual Aid Center Support

Donation protected

Kindred Souls Mutual Aid Center & Thrift is a place where voluntary, collaborative exchanges of resources and services for common benefit take place amongst community members to overcome social, economic, and political barriers to meeting common needs. This can include resources like food, clothing, and services like meal programmes to education and trade and hobby classes. Our Mutual Aid Center is focused on the daily needs of our community members, and working towards the goal of every one in need will have the chance to thrive.

Kindred Souls is small in size but we are building with big hearts, alongside running our thrift store we will be focusing on programs to start our journey the first is

Our first community project
Brian's Dream, Comrade Connection A Veterans Project

The Comrade Connection Project (Brian's Dream) in honor of our fallen friend Cpl Brian Ruggero, USMC who passed away at the age of 22 years young. He was one of the greatest people I know, I looked at him as a son. He would give the world to anyone who needed it, with a great big smile that would warm the coldest hearts. His dream was to help any Veteran in need for any reason and this is why I created the Briand Dream Veterans Project. Please go to our website to learn more about Brian and his family and more about our great project.

The Comrade Connection project is something that our community desperately needs to help benefit the mental and physical health of our great Veterans.

The Jacksonville NC community is home to many Veterans, although they may receive benefits from the Military and VA with hospital and home care, what they are lacking is personal attention, understanding, compassion and even companionship at home. North Carolina has (1) Veterans affairs department per 18,415 Veterans.

What this project is designed to do is to bring caring volunteers together with Veterans in need of friendship and companionship. This will include 1 visit a week for 2 hours to help veterans with whatever they need, whether it be cleaning, cooking, shopping, laundry, organization, dishes, taking a walk, caring for pets or just time to sit on the porch and talk about life.

We want our Veterans to know we care about them and want to develop a friendship with them so they have someone to call when they are in need, and knowing there is a caring person they can call at any time. This program is not affiliated with any medical establishment and should not be replaced for your current medical team. We are friends helping friends, and helping our community thrive.

This project will be free to all Veterans and will be funded by donations. If you know a Veteran in need or would like to volunteer please contact us. If you would like to donate please visit our website kindred-souls-united.webnode.page. Thank you all for your support!

The Second is The Hope at Home Project. The Hope at Home project fills a void that is not commonly offered in the Jacksonville community; it connects volunteers with older adults and Veterans who need help with daily tasks like touch up cleaning, cooking a simple meal, small errands, shopping and help with bill paying, a nice brisk walk at the park, wellness check, bringing them homemade bread and jam, a conversation, help with their pets, a helping hand or just a person they can call in times of need.

The vision for Kindred Souls United Community Aid Center non-profit is to have a place in the Jacksonville NC community where anyone who has fallen on hard times, difficult times, and times of need have a community of neighbors that will gather to help each other by any means. To have a space where people in need can afford to get what they may need for whatever situation they are in without judgment and given compassion we all deserve. It is about the community coming together to help one another in ways of gift or barter to support small local businesses and artisans to build a stronger community.

Our thrift shop will also be our Community Mutual Aid Center, not just a thrift shop but we will offer free classes and events for all community members and locals within our area. Our community aid center will offer many programs, a thrift store, food pantry, barter and trade, free trade and hobby classes for kids and adults, the Sunday family dinner project, organic gardening and plants for the community, Veterans & Seniors care project, homeschool trade & economic program, farmers market and many more.

If you are interested in volunteering, teaching a class or have ideas that could help us succeed in this journey please let me know by contacting me through the site. Thank you to all!

Today more than ever we need to come together and help each other any way we can and our community aid center will provide the place for all to gather and plan great things for our community and be an inspiration to others.
