The NoDAPL Builders Delegation

Support the NoDAPL Builders Delegation
and Supply Caravan

A group of carpenters and volunteers have just returned from a working delegation to the NoDAPL Water Protector's encampment in North Dakota.  Most of us are back now and our trip was a great success. We were able to bring a 26' box truck of supplies (including 7 woodstoves, over 1000 lbs of food, 300+ winter coats, sleeping bags, and winter gear, 2 huge army tents and much more.) as well as 40 builders and volunteers. Our self organization and preparedness allowed us to plug right in with the work being asked for. We were also able to make daily supply runs with the box truck everyday we were out there. Though most of us are back for now, we are still raising money to support the longterm Indigenous-led building projects at Standing Rock. We are also looking for folks to go back out there and help (please email [email redacted] if you are interested in helping build out there asap).

The principal coordinators of the caravan and the donation drive are Erok Gillard and Henry Harris, long-time social justice organizers with a number of groups in VT.  We believe this is a great opportunity to support native struggles for sovereignty, defend the land, protect the water, and work with a large group of dedicated people to slow runaway climate change.

BACKGROUND ~ NoDAPL
As you may know there is a historical struggle going on in North Dakota, where, over the past few months, thousands of people have gathered with the Standing Rock Lakota Nation to protect water, land and life against the Dakota Access Fracked Oil Pipeline (DAPL). This is an unprecedented mass action of First Nation peoples and their allies. They've come from around the world to join in prayer and non-violent direct action to protect sacred sites and burial grounds that are being bulldozed by pipeline construction, and the Missouri River. Now, facing massive police repression and the oncoming winter months, the Water Protectors are calling on all of us for support.

In VT we have organized a number of direct actions in solidarity with NoDAPL/Sacred Stones/Oceti Sakowin camps. A Michels Contruction worksite on the VT Gas Pipeine route in Vergennes, and a guerilla theatre occupation of TD Bank in the VT State Capitol, Montpelier, and recently an all day shut down of TD in Montpelier.

Please help support this struggle for native rights and sovereignty, for the climate and for all who drink water, breathe air and live on this earth!!
