Hello my name is Terri Stewart. I'm starting a GFM to help my best friend Erica Johnson. This is her story. Erica has a 14 year old son named Noah. Noah was born with the heart defect HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome). HLHS is a birth defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart. As the baby develops during pregnancy, the left side of the heart does not form correctly. Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome is one type of congenital heart defect. Congenital means present at birth. As a result, Noah had to have a heart transplant when he was 11 months old. In 2013 Noah had to have open heart surgery. Last July Noah was diagnosed with PLTD (Post Lymphoproliferative Transplant Disorder). It is a form of cancer that affects transplant recipients. After chemotherapy and a two month stay in the hospital, Noah was in remission. Unfortunately after five months the cancer is back and more aggressive. Erica is the one of the strongest women I know. She would do anything and everything for her kids. Noah has two sisters, Zi'Yah and Drew. Zi'Yah is in her first year of the Navy and Drew a high school senior. Noah is home schooled and has to have a tutor. Erica hasn't been able to work due to Noah's condition. She has to travel between the hospital and home to care for both Noah and Drew. I wanted to start this GFM to help make her load a little lighter. So please find it in your hearts to join me in donating to the fund. No donation is too small and all donations will be appreciated.
