We are a coalition of farmers, landowners, and concerned residents in Southeast Minnesota united by a shared responsibility to protect the Driftless region we call home. Many of us are multi-generational stewards of this land—deeply connected to its farms, bluffs, waterways, and rural way of life.

We are raising funds in response to the proposed “Gopher to Badger” (MariBell) 765 kV transmission line—one of the largest high-voltage power projects ever planned in the United States. As currently proposed, this massive industrial corridor would cut directly through our county, requiring nearly 200-foot towers and a greatly expanded, permanently cleared path across private property, farmland, and sensitive landscapes.

This effort is about more than a power line. It’s about protecting a rare and fragile region shaped by unique karst geology, preserving working farms and groundwater, and defending the quiet character and natural beauty that define our community. Many residents feel they have not been adequately informed or given a meaningful voice in decisions that will have permanent consequences for their land and livelihoods for generations.

Funds raised will support community outreach, educational efforts, and resources to ensure residents are informed, organized, and able to participate fully in the process. We are also working to challenge the current proposal for an overhead 765 kV line and to advocate for responsible, well-studied alternatives that prioritize health, safety, property rights, and the long-term sustainability of our region.
