Save Roxborough Community Park and Stop the Steal of Your Tax Dollars!

Stunning natural beauty, tranquility and a lower cost of living: These are reasons people move to Roxborough Village. There is a plan underway to destroy an amazing outdoor recreation area and steal your tax dollars at the same time: A massive Rec Center (45,000 to 50,000 sq. ft.) costing $32.5M to $35.1M in the center of Roxborough Community Park.

During the worst pandemic experienced in 100 years - as people lost jobs, loved ones and experienced hardship as never before - elected Roxborough Village Metro District (RVMD) commissioners have been developing a plan to impose a massive new taxpayer debt from a retiring 30-year mill levy. They’ve already spent over $350,000 of your tax dollars engaging “friends-of-the-YMCA,” eager to fill their coffers with our tax dollars and convince residents they need a gigantic building to forever destroy stunning views of the hogback! Studies show only 20-25% of residents typically use community rec centers, but every one of the homeowners in our 2,500-home community will pay for this monstrocity. This does not take into account we have several communities with rec center amenities now in active construction in Roxborough Village area. There will soon be an oversupply of rec centers within a five-mile radius. Greed, control of a larger tax base and power are driving this project, not your interests!

Significant numbers of residents are not aware of this move to steal our public park and tax dollars. The RVMD is well funded, using your tax dollars to spread their false narrative about the project. We need your help to inform friends and neighbors about the RVMD’s lack-of-transparency, greed and plans to destroy the community park we all enjoy.

How We Use Donations:

Our goal is to raise $4,000 for a public awareness campaign featuring advertising, print flyers, yard signs, exhibits, mailings and more to raise awareness with every household in the community starting now and culminating in November when this massive tax increase ballot issue will be decided. We will work hard to use every donation to the fullest. Any excess support at the close of this campaign will be donated to Hands Across Roxborough to help people experiencing financial hardship in our community. Whatever the outcome, we will report back on how every single dollar was used at the close of this campaign effort. 100% Transparency!!
