My name is Windy Marroquí… and I never imagined I'd have to write something like this.

Just a month ago, my family was complete. I had my husband by my side, my son Miguel smiling, and in my arms my newborn baby, Alaia, full of life. We were a family with dreams, with plans… with hope.

But everything changed in an instant. My husband was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)… and with him, the stability of our home vanished.

Today I'm alone in this country, far from my homeland, trying to be strong for my children. Miguel looks at me, not understanding why his father isn't here… and my little Alaia, just one month old, depends completely on me for everything.

There are nights I can't sleep, thinking about how I'm going to get through this… how I'm going to give them what they need… how I'm going to fill the void their father left.

My heart aches… but even so, I get up every day for them. Because they are my reason for going on, my strength, my everything.

Today, with my heart in my hand and with great humility, I dare to ask for help. It's not easy… but I do it for my children.
