As a passion-driven, no-profit, community-focused and volunteer-operated organization, your financial contributions are crucial to No Name Cinema's continuation and expansion. Thank you in advance for your generosity and belief in the importance of alternative, non-commercial exhibition spaces.

In our first year and a half of in-person events, No Name Cinema produced 48 film screenings, hosted 18 visiting filmmakers, 5 art exhibitions, 28 Chess & Jazz events, 2 abortion fund benefits, 2 expanded cinema performances, 1 musical performance, 1 winter clothing drive for the local homeless shelter, we adopted a local stretch of public road, we gave talks/presentations at 2 universities in New Mexico and 3 community spaces in California, our printed ephemera is now collected by the archives at both the New Mexico Museum of Art and the Pacific Film Archive, we made 17 printed programs, 2 zines, 7 posters, 2 commissioned essays, 1 t-shirt, 1 pin and a weird keychain.... In the coming year, we will be continuing with the same high level of quality programming and community focus - while also introducing a summertime series of low-cost filmmaking workshops and the construction of a 16mm/8mm film library that will exist as a "living archive" for local filmmakers' use and exhibition.

No Name is a microcinema, gallery and community gathering space in Santa Fe, New Mexico that exists as a no-profit, non-business, anti-capitalist operation. NNC was founded by Justin Clifford Rhody and is co-operated by Abigail Smith. We focus on showcasing international and local experimental, avant-garde and repertory films, videos and visual art. Our programming mission is to select works that use the filmic medium as an art form rather than passive entertainment, to encourage an open dialogue within the community and to offer a platform for transgressive and marginalized voices and perspectives. Through dedication and focus we are working to assist an artistic community in New Mexico that exists outside of the museums, beyond the schlock of Hollywood and is truly a people’s cinema.

All events at the space are open to the public, popcorn is provided and admission is a sliding scale donation. Each screening is presented only once, with opening soundtracks and short films designed to make each event unique. Programs regularly feature filmmakers in-attendance to introduce their work and participate in open Q&A sessions with the audience. Occasionally expanded cinema performances occur involving live musical accompaniment, multiple projectors and performance art elements. The first and third Thursday of each month the Chess & Jazz club meets; a non-competitive gathering of chess playing, jazz listening and tea drinking open to all skill levels and ages. Twice a year an Open Screen event occurs where local filmmakers are invited to share their work through an open call.

No Name Cinema is a labor of love operating in a DIY spirit with intentions to foster community, conversation, and provide support to underground culture.
