Who we are?
We are Heather Rehrig and Cathy Horne Perdick, residents of Lower Mount Bethel Township working with a group of Lower Mount Bethel residents, farmers, historians, and conservation advocates coming together to protect the place we call home.

Why We're Raising Funds

Our township is facing an urgent threat: a developer has proposed building a massive 1.2 GW industrial hyperscale data center complex that would cover over 1,000 acres, making it the 3rd largest data center in the country. The developer is looking to rezone 650 acres of land currently zoned agricultural.

The land borders numerous preserved farmland still being farmed by local farmers, Gulick's Orchard (fifth-generation family-run), a dairy farm, historic 18th-century farms, nature trails, an environmental center, many residential houses, and sits beside the Delaware River Scenic Byway, and falls within active bald eagle nesting territory. This proposal would transform one of the most scenic and historic landscapes in Northampton County into an around-the-clock industrial site, destroying almost the entire area of Lower Mount Bethel, possibly making it a ghost town.

For those of us who live here, this land is more than dirt and trees. It represents generations of hard work, family farms passed down through centuries, and a community proud to protect what makes this place special—open skies, quiet roads, and the wildlife that call it home. The Delaware River Scenic Byway runs through some of the most beautiful countryside in the state, and a sprawling industrial facility would destroy the rural views that earned it this official recognition. Many of these farms date back to the 1700s—the very roots of Pennsylvania’s agricultural identity. Once the bulldozers move in, that heritage cannot be rebuilt. Bald eagles, once endangered, have nested and thrived in this area thanks to decades of conservation. Construction noise, habitat loss, and power lines put them at serious risk. Data centers consume millions of gallons of water per day and operate 24/7 with intense cooling systems, meaning constant noise, bright lights, and heavy power demand—forever changing our small rural township.

How Funds Will Be Used

All contributions will go toward:
-Legal consultation and representation
-Environmental experts
-Independent studies on noise, water use, traffic, and wildlife impacts
-Public outreach materials (signs, letters, and educational flyers) to inform neighbors and regional supporters, and community events and advocacy before township meetings and state agencies.

Every contribution—no matter the size—helps amplify the voice of local residents who deserve a say in their future.

What’s happening in Lower Mount Bethel is part of a growing national issue: industrial data centers being sited in rural and historic communities without proper oversight. Our fight here will set a precedent for towns across Pennsylvania and beyond. Protecting our heritage and environment isn’t just a local issue—it’s a statewide responsibility. Lower Mount Bethel’s farmland, wildlife, and history are part of Pennsylvania’s living story.

How You Can Help: Donate—every dollar strengthens our defense against this destructive development. Share—spread this page with family, friends, and conservation groups across the region. Stay involved—attend township meetings, follow local updates, and speak out. Together, we can show developers that this community values history, nature, and neighbors over profit. Let’s keep Lower Mount Bethel beautiful, historic, and alive—for the eagles above us, the families among us, and the generations still to come.
