My name is Nisha and I am a Grade 5 student living in Toronto. My teacher assigned a passion project that is supposed to help people, our community or a cause. I chose homelessness.
I live in a neighbourhood that has two shelters very close by. I see that homelessness is a serious problem in my community and all over my city and country. There are many reasons why people become homeless such as unaffordable housing, abuse, addiction, job loss, family crisis, mental health, refugees and newcomers, just to name a few. After I finish my project, I didn't think just presenting it to my classmates was enough. I want to help make an impact in people's lives and make a real difference for them. So I asked my parents if I could raise money to donate.
Please help me by making a small (or big!) donation. Every dollar helps fund programs aimed at improving the lives of people struggling in our communities. I am determined to reach my goal of $6000.00 and will keep the page open until I reach my goal.
All proceeds will be donated to the West Neighbourhood House http://www.westnh.org/ . West Neighbourhood House (formally St. Christopher House) is a non-profit community organization serving downtown West Toronto since 1912. West Neighbourhood House has a longstanding commitment to integrate community development initiatives with responsive direct service. West Neighbourhood House is both a social service-provider for local people of all ages in need and a community centre for all. West Neighbourhood House currently has seven locations.
