Niko is a 12-year-old mixed-breed dog we adopted from Furry Friends Refuge in Des Moines, Iowa when he was 7. He now lives with us in California in a one-bedroom apartment with me, my wife, and our other dog. He’s a calm, affectionate indoor companion and a deeply loved part of our family. He enjoys sunbathing, cuddling, and short walks. Niko is the heart of our home. He’s calm, gentle, and deeply bonded to us. He follows us from room to room, loves cuddling, and brings a quiet comfort to our daily lives. He gets along great with our other dog, Willow, and is especially in tune with our emotions. He’s more than a pet — he’s our companion, our comfort, and our best friend. Niko has advanced dental disease (Stage 4) and needs a full cleaning, x-rays, and multiple extractions under anesthesia. If left untreated, it could lead to infection and ongoing pain. He’s still eating but struggling more each day. He was diagnosed at Vetco Total Care in Elk Grove, CA on May 22, 2025. We’ve saved $1,500 but need help to close the gap. We’re living on a tight single income, and the cost of care is more than we can manage alone. We’ve saved $1,500, but we still need help. Seeing Niko healthy and pain-free again would bring so much comfort and peace to our home. He means the world to us.
