Hurricane Eta made landfall on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua and affected cities like Biliwi and Puerto Cabezas in the R.A.A.N (Región Autónomo del Atlántico Norte RAAN) . region of the country. This area is scarcely populated and the Caribbean coast is the hub for Afro-Nicaraguan and Indigenous life.
Unfortunately, 3 weeks later these damaged communities are bracing themselves for Hurricane Iota, a large hurricane set to make landfall within the next few hours. Any funds raised will be sent directly to Celia Fedrick Moore, a local journalist who has organized community feeding and other aid programs in the wake of Hurricane Eta. These proceeds will go directly to food, water and re-building supplies for these affected communities.
Nicaragua's Caribbean is a special place, marked by resilience. Any kindness would be greatly appreciated.
My name is Rbrey Duane Singleton and I am a law student at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth School of Law, and a Nicaraguan American.
There are two recipients in Nicaragua who will receive these funds. The first is Celia Fedrick Moore, a journalist I personally know in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua, where both storms have ravaged the Carribean Coast. These funds will go towards food and medicine. The second half of money will go to Jenifer Torrez, the treasurer of the Anglican Church in Bluefields as they will be creating care packages to deliver to affected areas.
I am in communication with both of the women listed above.
As mentioned earlier the materials will go towards building material, medicine and care packages for families affected by storms.
I plan on using MoneyGram to send the funds to both parties and I will furnish receipts and photos online.
