Hi All,

Firstly, thank you very much for your donation. I am tasked with fundraising €3750 by August in order to volunteer in Cape Town, South Africa this November 16-23rd to build houses and schools for the Townships with Niall Mellon Township Trust / Mellon Educate. I chose this charity to work with as my dad volunteered for 4 years in a row with Niall Mellon and always spoke about how rewarding the experience was and how grateful the local community are for the support.

For those of you who are not familiar with the charity, Mellon Educate is an Irish-based African development charity founded by developer & philanthropist Niall Mellon in 2002 and established as a charitable company in 2004. Thanks to the enormous collective effort of the volunteers, in conjunction with the South African government, the charity has built houses for 175,000 homeless people in South Africa’s poorest townships. In 2012, they proudly celebrated a milestone achievement for the charity with 25,000 houses completed. I have attached a video of the building blitz below also!

In order to raise this target, I will be completing the Clare Womens Mini-Marathon on the August Bank Holiday Sunday the 4th. For those of you who know me... this is a big feat, as usually I would not even run to the bus! Keeping that fun fact in mind, I am hoping this will encourage you to support my endeavour of completing this mini-marathon for this amazing cause and help me raise the funds needed to make this volunteering experience happen!
