During the current Covid-19 pandemic, many staff in the NHS and in community care are finding themselves in need of necessary PPE to protect themselves whilst they work to look after us. Many people around the country, who want to help in some way, are coming together to help provide these items. This crisis has arisen from both the volume increase in number of staff required to wear PPE to protect themselves where previousy there was no needto do so, and the number of changes of uniform required to prevent spread of infection.
Our Facebook group "NHS Scrubs & Bags - WD3 Area" represents volunteers from Rickmansworth, Chorleywood , Croxley and surrounding areas in South West Hertfordshire, who enjoy sewing, both as a hobby and on a professional level. We have come together to help sew scrubs, scrub wash bags and other accessories to help our NHS staff, GPs and community health care workers who are currently going in to work daily faced with a shortagae of appropriate PPE.
While some items can be made from donated fabric, we now urgently require funds to purchase appropriate material to fulfil requests for scrubs. We also need to purchse items of haberdashery as our volunteers stocks are running out. Members of the public have offered donations to help us - so a crowdfunding camapign seems the most appropriate approach.
We are making :
- sets of scrubs,
- drawstring wash bags for nurses to hold their contaminated uniforms and scrubs, which can then be put straight into the washing machines without fear of cross contamination to their families

- and if requested, masks and caps and headbands for mask wearers to make them more comfortable for staff to wear during the long shifts they are working.

Thread, fabric for scrubs, elastic, tape and more are all needed to make the items.
Thank you for your donation - it is greatly appreciated!!
