Empowering Black DC Youth with Black Swan Academy
Donation protected
PLEASE DONATE TO OUR EMPLOYER MATCHING FUNDRAISER FOR BLACK SWAN ACADEMY.
It is time to move past performative activism and invest in community organizations that are empowering the next generation of young Black leaders in DC. In a city that has one of the highest levels of gentrification in the US paired with one of the highest levels of police per capita, focusing critical funds to those amazing groups working with brilliant and beautiful Black young people has never been more important. Why? Black Lives Matter.
I have a dear friend who works at the Gates Foundation, and who benefits from an amazing employer 300% matching scheme for non-profit donations. We’re aiming to raise $2000, which will be amplified 4x by the Gates Foundation’s match, bringing our collective efforts to $8000 for Black Swan Academy. We will take the funds directly from GoFundMe and donate to Black Swan Academy via the Gates Foundation donation portal.
100% of funds will be donated to Black Swan Academy, and we are working in coordination with Samantha Paige Davis the Founder and Executive Director .
See below for more info on their amazing work, and visit their website.

Founded in 2013 by the inspirational Samantha Paige Davis, the Black Swan Academy (BSA) is a non-profit organization in the District of Columbia that concentrates its efforts on empowering Black youth through Civic Leadership and Engagement.
The BSA empowers black youth in under-served communities through civic leadership and engagement, giving them a comprehensive set of tools needed to succeed in life and become active social catalyst in their communities. They are committed to creating a pipeline of Black youth leaders that are committed to improving self, as well as their communities.
- BSA trains 6th-12th graders to be social responsible leaders in the public, political and private sector.
- BSA raises awareness on social issues disproportionately affecting Black Americans, and highlight the many positive examples that are often over looked.
- BSA advocates for the elimination of structural barriers impacting the Black American community.
Thank you so much. Every donation counts. <3
