My husband and I have run Ngunnawal Street Pantries for almost 4 years now. We operate out of our own home and receive no government funding. Our philosophy is ‘give when you can, take when you need so the community donates food, clothes, household items toys etc and we pass it back on for free to anyone who needs it. As well as helping the community we also work with many other charities including Karinya, Roundabout, Canberra City Care, the Early Morning Centre and many more.

The reason for this appeal is that we need some help to improve our front yard which we operate out of. We have a landscaping company that has built a retaining wall, levelled the area and will concrete it for us. But we still need some fencing/screening around the area to improve the aesthetic and make the area lockable. We also need a large undercover area and plastic cafe type blinds to keep the overflow from the pantries dry. This will also give us our driveway back where we operate out of now with a series of flimsy gazebos and lots of tarps and plastic.

This will put us in a position to operate for many years to come in a sustainable way.
