If you have ever met Tory Doctor, you have undoubtably experienced his +5 charisma bonus. Tory is warm, enigmatic, irreverent, and deeply caring. He has built a career on completely natural talent and hard work (he’s never had formal voice training and can barely read music), and his laugh has echoed through countless theatres, leading the uproars of those laughing along with him. He has built an entire world from nothing but his own imagination, and gives joy and meaning to the lives of so many.

Tory is all of these things. But Tory is not only these things.

Alongside all his light, Tory has quietly struggled since his early childhood with a darkness he did not cause or invite. Like too many of us, he learned to survive his pain by finding ways to escape it and hide it. And like too many of us, it led him to a place of despair fueled by deep unhealed trauma, and ultimately to the destruction of so much in his life.

In February of 2024 Tory took the incredibly brave first step in acknowledging that he cannot heal alone, and accepted the help of those closest to him to start what will be a long and difficult healing journey. As part of this, I (Brynn) have been researching where and how to get Tory the professional support he needs to be successful as he moves forward.

I have located an incredible 6 week intensive program offered out of Toronto. The program will surround Tory with a team of professionals who have the training and lived experience to walk beside him as he does the incredibly difficult and necessary work required to find long term healing and sustained recovery. After the 6 week intensive stage, the program offers extended ongoing supports (2+ years) and all in a way that allows Tory to stay in his community to heal, surrounded by those he loves so much.

The reality is that without intensive, professional supports, Tory will self destruct. We cannot afford this program without help from our community. The total cost is $10,200 (not including taxes) and Tory will not be able to work during his engagement in the program. We have no borrowing power to leverage and have maxed out all of our resources just to stay afloat.

We do not come to you lightly - we know so many of you are struggling right along side us. We do not expect anything of anyone. Your prayers and words of encouragement are just as treasured as your financial support. Please do not feel any guilt or regret if you are not in a position to give financially.

For those who do wish to contribute financially - please know 100% of what we receive will be going to directly cover the costs of Tory’s treatment and cover any lost earnings from that period. In the event there is any sort of “excess” it will be set aside to support others going through what we currently are.
