Hello, My name is Lovely Lisa, and I am fundraising for New Foundations Neighborhood Resource Center's new Foster Home for children. NFNRC is obtaining its credentials to become a non-profit in Pennsylvania. We have been providing the community with resources and leads to employment, help with necessities, training, Entrepreneurship and more. NFNRC has added the service of foster care because it is a need that doesn't have many volunteers at hand. NFNRC has many resources they share with the neighborhood, and they want to expand their services with your help.
Growing up, my father and Stepmother raised me. I am forever grateful to them and my aunt, who introduced them. My mom took me in as her own from the beginning. She never explained our dynamics; I was her child. I did not grow up with my biological siblings; unfortunately, they experienced the foster system as children. I am very grateful for my siblings' foster parents. They provided a safe space for my siblings until my mother regained her life. I want to give other parents a chance to get it right. I understand sometimes people need help getting back on their feet for whatever reason. When I look back at my foundation, I can't help to think there are many other children in the same situation. I believe children should be with their birth parents, and New Foundations Neighborhood Resource Center is now expanding its services to allow that to happen.
Your help will provide children ages 0-16 with a safe space to learn and grow in a family setting. With the funds, NFNRC will purchase the necessary furniture and safety gear and pay for extracurricular activities. From experience, extracurricular activities, and field trips outside the city allowed me and others to see a bigger world. It changed our MINDSETS to know that we can always change for the better. Our extended children will have first access to all of the resources provided by NFNRC. They will be able to attend training for free and have access to all the counseling, tutoring, and help they need to succeed. I have completed the prerequisites and my case worker feels like I have a lot to offer the community and the children needing care.
Many people have the understanding that DHS helps with EVERYTHING the child needs at first, but this is untrue. The foster parents are responsible for everything in the beginning, and we must apply for help, which can take a while. From clothing, hygiene, transportation, and childcare, The stipend isn't enough to cover basic needs or support needed to help heal and mentor children. The average stipend is about $900/mo. Many parents know that childcare and food are expensive, and counseling/therapy is even more. Extracurricular activities and entertainment can be costly. I would like to set the children up with a care package as soon as they arrive. This will include age-appropriate tablets, bookbags with items THEY like. We want them to feel welcomed. Also, travel to and from activities, appointments and visitation costs time and money.
The children will have access to learn: Photography, Digital Arts, Digital Content, Podcasting, Cosmetology, T-Shirt Printing, Construction Management, Business Management, Religion & Spirituality, Black History, Entrepreneurship, Politics & Law, Health and Fitness, and ,much more
