Newton Firefighters Shopping for Seniors

Together, we can slow the virus spread and keep our healthcare system from becoming overwhelmed. -- A group of off-duty Newton Firefighters who want to give back to our wonderful, supportive community by shopping for our most vulnerable seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic. We understand that many of our seniors have underlying health problems and are immunocompromised. We also know that many are likely concerned with how they will aquire essential supplies yet follow CDC recommendations to stay home and away from gathering places. The goal of this account is to raise $1000 as operating funds to buy your essentials. One or two off-duty firefighters will deliver your groceries to your porch. We ask that you provide them a check for the cost of your items. As long as funding will support it, and donations continue to come in, we are willing to cover your first $25 if you are struggling financially. We plan to do this for a few weeks and reevaluate. At the conclusion of the program, we will distribute left over funds to community charities.
