Kids Need New Inclusive Playground!

Donation protected

All of us at Hewitt Elementary are extremely dedicated to providing a fun, safe and accessible NEW playground for all of our students (Pre-K through Fourth) grade to play on TOGETHER. As a Title 1 school, our student population is very diverse but we do not receive any funding for our playgrounds from the school district . We have children with varying degrees of mental, physical and behavioral challenges. We would love to create one playground area that meets the needs of all of our differently abled children so they can play together.

The existing playground at Hewitt Elementary is over 20 years old and dilapidated. The current structure is made of wood and has pea gravel all around the structure limiting access to those students that use mobility assistance devices. It is not only a safety hazard, but doesn't provide for an inclusive environment for children of all abilities.

We'd love to be able to tear down the old wooden playground structure this summer so the students at Hewitt could have their new all-inclusive playground by late August 2016. Please join us in our efforts to raise the funds we need to be able to provide this for our amazing students! Help us build the first ever ALL-INCLUSIVE playground for our students and community at Hewitt Elementary!
