NEWCASTLE MUINTIR NA TIRE COMMUNITY COUNCIL CHY 6865
In late 2019 the committee of Newcastle Muintir na Tire Community Council were notified that the application for funding, to the Department of Rural & Community Development under the Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2019 was successful. A grant of €139,060 was allocated. This grant will be for a two room extension with wheelchair access and disabled toilet area. Works also includes an extension to the existing kitchen/supper room and storeroom with a small extension to the main hall by removing the old mineral bar/storeroom.
In the spring of 2020, before fundraising could commence, the Covid 19 crisis occurred. Given the current climate and uncertainty, there have been no opportunity to raise funds, or carry out the normal day-to-day revenue generating activities in the hall.
A shortfall of €35,000 must be raised in 2021 or the grant will be lost to our community.
This building project will again depend on your generosity and the hope is that the community and friends of Newcastle, at home and overseas,will once again respond in a positive way financially to see the project through to completion.
