Ciao, sono Francesca, fondatrice del progetto New World Bordel. Vivo in Olanda dal Settembre 2015 e, al momento, faccio parte dei circa 300.000 expats residenti ad Amsterdam e che, di fatto, tengono in piedi questa città. New World Bordel è una libreria/biblioteca indipendente e autofinanziata, nata per contrastare il sistema dominante in cui tutto è commercializzato. In un mondo dove l'informazione e la cultura sono spesso manipolate, New World Bordel si batte per rivendicare il diritto alla lettura, al libero accesso alla cultura e a un'informazione obiettiva e veritiera. NWB nasce come risposta ad un trauma, infatti nasce dopo un`esperienza lavorativa devastante che mi ha costretta a mettere in discussione alcune di quelle che pensavo fossero le mie certezze sia dal punto di vista professionale, che dal punto di vista personale. Per la prima volta nella mia vita ho rischiato seriamente di sprofondare in un baratro senza fondo, ma fortunatamente mi sono rifugiata nei libri e pagina dopo pagina, storia dopo storia, ho iniziato a vedere la luce in fondo al tunnel tanto da arrivare a pensare perché qui non esiste un posto dove leggere nella propria lingua? Un posto che ti faccia sentire al sicuro e che ti aiuti a resistere agli urti della vita? Quindi da una banale idea arrivata in una sera altrettanto banale, è nato il progetto di una libreria che aspira a diventare un rifugio per menti indipendenti. Il progetto è stato dapprima lanciato attraverso i social, dopodichè si è provato a testare il mercato partecipando a fiere ed iniziative di quartire, la risposta del pubblico è stata entusiasmante. Mi sono convinta ancora di più di essere sulla strada giusta, ecco perchè oggi chiedo a voi di supportarmi in questa avventura. Sto organizzando questa campagna di crowdfunding perchè vorrei che NWB diventasse una realtà più grande, sono riuscita ad affittare un piccolo atelier dal quale partire ma vorrei davvero che tutto questo si trasformasse in qualcosa di più perchè credo che una citta come Amsterdam meriti di avere un posto così. Sono sicura che NWB possa essere il posto giusto per far partire una piccola rivoluzione culturale, ma affinchè possa esserlo a pieno è necessario anche il vostro contributo. NON SI OFFRONO SERVIZI O PRESTAZIONI in cambio delle donazioni, salvo ringraziamenti simbolici. I fondi raccolti verranno impiegati per realizzare una vera e propria sala lettura, per implementare il nostro inventario (vorrei aggiungere libri in polacco e i tedesco), per organizzare conferenze/letture e per stampare del merchandising. In altre parole, i fondi raccolti verranno esclusivamente utilizzati per trasformare LA SOLITUDINE IN CONNESSIONE, d`altronde dopo 10 anni da expat so benissimo che non è il tetto a mancarti, ma il senso di appartenenza.

Hi, I'm Francesca, founder of the New World Bordel project. I've been living in the Netherlands since September 2015 and am currently one of approximately 300,000 expats living in Amsterdam, who are, in fact, keeping this city afloat. New World Bordel is an independent, self-funded bookstore/library, founded to challenge the dominant system in which everything is commercialized. In a world where information and culture are often manipulated, New World Bordel fights for the right to reading, free access to culture, and objective, truthful information. NWB was born as a response to trauma; in fact, it was born after a devastating work experience that forced me to question some of what I thought were my certainties, both professionally and personally. For the first time in my life, I seriously risked falling into a bottomless abyss, but fortunately, I took refuge in books, and page after page, story after story, I began to see the light at the end of the tunnel, to the point where I began to wonder: "Why isn't there a place here where you can read in your own language?" A place that makes you feel safe and helps you withstand life's shocks? `` So, from a banal idea on an equally banal evening, the project for a bookstore was born, aspiring to become a refuge for independent minds. The project was initially launched through social media, then we tested the market by participating in fairs and neighborhood initiatives. The public response was enthusiastic. I became even more convinced that I was on the right path, which is why today I'm asking you to support me in this adventure. I'm organizing this crowdfunding campaign because I want NWB to become a bigger reality. I managed to rent a small atelier from which to start, but I really want all this to transform into something more because I believe a city like Amsterdam deserves a place like this. I'm sure NWB could be the right place to spark a small cultural revolution, but for it to be fully realized, your contribution is also needed. NO SERVICES OR SERVICES ARE OFFERED in exchange for donations, except for symbolic thanks. The funds raised will be used to build a proper reading room, expand our inventory (I'd like to add books in Polish and German), organize conferences/readings, and print merchandise. In other words, the funds raised will be used exclusively to transform LONELINESS INTO CONNECTION. After all, after 10 years as an expat, I know full well that it's not a roof you miss, but a sense of belonging.
