Dear readers, contributors, and community,
Gasp Magazine turned five in 2026. What began as an amateur photography project during a slumber party in an apartment in Arkhangelsk has grown alongside our communities through migration, military conflict, protests, academic life, and an ongoing search for creative experimentation and expression.
OUR WORK
To date, Gasp Magazine has:
- Published two printed volumes of artistic works, including poetry, photography, and essays
- Organized and facilitated workshops on sexuality education and safety and wellbeing
- Hosted creative laboratories and academic seminars on critical approaches to sexuality discourse
- Published translations and essays on consent, sex work, sexuality, and fascism
- Hosted conferences on queer feminism, sexuality, and urban studies
- Commissioned and published stunning original illustrations alongside written pieces
All our work is original and deeply intimate. We depend on your support to maintain and expand it.
OUR CURRENT REALITY
Gasp Magazine does not have consistent funding. The project is maintained on a volunteer basis by a single coordinator and a designer. Securing resources for a major update and a migration to independent tools is difficult because our needs are immediate and practical, while many grant programs are framed around different strategic priorities.
WHY WE ARE RAISING FUNDS
Public discourse around sexuality is becoming more rigid and hostile in many of the contexts we inhabit. The need to stay critical and to keep space for complex conversations remains urgent.
To do this work sustainably, we need new web infrastructure that enables:
- Efficient, consistent publishing
- Reliable archiving of contributors’ work
- Better accessibility across devices and regions
- Greater security and independence from third-party platforms
WHAT IS NOT WORKING ABOUT THE CURRENT SETUP
Gasp Magazine currently operates on Readymag, a subscription-based service for visual website layout. It is a powerful tool, but it has proven cumbersome for the regular updates we need to keep our audience informed, present our work professionally, and maintain a stable, searchable archive.

WHY WE NEED A NEW WEBSITE
A new web infrastructure would help us publish more consistently and, in turn, open opportunities for more sustainable funding, including the ability to reward contributors in the future.
HOW TO SUPPORT
Please support our fundraising for the website migration and rebuild. If you cannot donate, sharing this campaign with others also makes a difference.
