Tax deductible
The Class of 2028 at New Tech High at Coppell (NTH@C) presents the tenth annual Slamming for a Cause on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. During the poetry slam event, the NTH@C Rookie learners (Freshman) will perform originally written and choreographed spoken word poems about human rights issues across the world. These performers competed and won for the opportunity to perform at their project’s culminating event. Admission to the in-person event is $5.00. There also will be a bake sale, t-shirt sales and a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit Assistance League of Coppell, a local non-profit organization providing services to youth and senior citizens in the Coppell community.
Assistance League of Coppell is a community-focused charity consisting of adult and student (Assisteen) volunteers that has provided life-changing services to thousands of local residents over the last 25 years. Our Operation School Bell program addresses the needs of economically disadvantaged youth including clothing, hunger, health, supplies and literacy. Our Youth Today program teaches students how to make good choices by supporting and encouraging healthy lifestyles, and our Service Learning program fosters and recognizes student community service. Building a foundation of economic stability, healthy lifestyles, and service orientation enables student success and helps pave the way for development into self-sufficient and service-minded adults. In addition, our Helping Hearts senior citizen program provides various activities to improve the quality of life for residents in local assisted living centers.
Your donations make an immediate impact because 100% of funds raised for Assistance League programs are used in our local community:
- $20 provides materials for drug abuse prevention programs for at risk youth.
- $25 provides supplies for weekly visitation, games and crafts at a local assisted living center.
- $50 provides a homeless student with food and essential supplies.
- $150 provides new school clothing, shoes, a backpack and toiletries for an economically disadvantaged student.
- $250 provides supplies for an elementary student reading program.
- $1,000 provides a high school senior with a college scholarship based on their community service.
