Shoes of Hope: New Shoes for Raleigh Rescue Mission Kids!
Donation protected

My name is Michael Rolon, and along with my Men’s group, we are organizing a special event to support children connected with Raleigh Rescue Mission. Growing up the oldest of a large family, I know all about hand me downs. I still remember seeing a classmate come to school with shoes held together by duct tape. That image stuck with me. It wasn’t just that the shoes were worn out — it was the look on his face. He knew they set him apart. And no kid should carry that kind of weight.
I remember how other children were picked on for wearing hand-me-downs or worn out shoes, and I want to help make sure these kids feel confident and proud as they head back to school. While many organizations focus on coats, backpacks, or clothing, shoes are often overlooked—yet they make a huge difference in a child’s self-esteem and comfort.
This August, with the help of dedicated volunteers, we’re hosting "Shoes of Hope" – a private pop-up shoe store at Kingdom Tree community garden. This isn't just about footwear; it's about dignity. Each child from Raleigh Rescue Mission, ranging from newborns to 14 years old, will get to choose their very own brand-new pair of shoes. Imagine the joy and confidence of picking out a pair that's truly theirs!
The event will be a full day of celebration for these kids, packed with games, delicious food, and special activities. We'll also provide additional giveaways to meet their needs and bring them pure joy. We also plan to donate extra pairs to Raleigh Rescue Mission so future kids can benefit. We're seeking support from local businesses and families to make this day truly memorable.
Our ambitious goal is to raise $10,000 to make this dream a reality for over 100 children.
- A gift of $60 provides one child with a new pair of shoes and a reason to smile.
- $120 covers new shoes for two siblings.
- $300 ensures five children walk away with confidence.
Every single dollar raised through this GoFundMe goes directly toward purchasing shoes and supporting the event. Any funds remaining after the event will be donated to the Raleigh Rescue Mission’s vital ongoing work.
Your support will help us give these incredible kids a fresh start, renewed confidence, and a lasting reason to smile as they begin a new school year. Please donate today and share our story!
