Hi, I'm Jenay, founder of New Roots--a community-led initiative to help Black women, children, and Black Trans women safely relocate from the United States to safer, more welcoming countries. We're raising $250,000 to help relocate 25 families (100 people) from the US to countries where they can live in peace, dignity, and freedom.
Black families in America are facing increasing danger. Rising hate crimes, anti-Black policies, attacks on trans rights, and a political climate moving backward have made it clear: the system won't save us, so we're saving each other. Our goal is not just survival, but liberation.
Through New Roots, we're helping Black families take a life-changing step: relocating to safer, more stable countries that welcome them. These include Ghana, Thailand, Panama, Portugal, Costa Rica, Antigua, the Dominican Republic, Canada, Japan, and Mexico. Selected based on safety, education, visa accessibility, cost of living, and quality of life.
We will provide flights and passports, housing costs covered for three months, visa and legal support, cultural integration and aftercare, and trauma-informed support! Each relocation averages $10,000 per family, and we are committed to relocating 25 families in the next 12 months.
