New Life Day Care's Sensory Room
New Life Day Care and Family Centre is a Community based charitable organisation, supporting children, young people and families to access a high standard of Care and Family Support Services.
Here at New Life Day Care our Christian values are at the heart of everything we do. It is our mission to provide an inspiring, stimulating and challenging learning environment. We strive to enable every young child to thrive in their learning and development.
We endeavour to achieve this through:
· Providing a safe, happy and warm environment for all children to develop, learn and play freely.
· Offer inclusive services to all children in the community, no matter what their abilities, or age and stage of development
· Supporting children with complex and additional needs to allow them to access services.
· Help children to grow into independent and confident lifelong learners through giving creative and imaginative opportunities.
· Encourage children to have respect and a positive attitude towards others and themselves.
· Having strong relationships with all parents/caregivers to support families, share ideas and achieve outstanding outcomes.
We have the great privilege of supporting children with complex and additional needs, and have become aware through enquiries from parents and professionals that there are limited settings to accommodate that high level of support. Throughout Stockton there is only one early support nursery which can cater specifically for children with profound complex needs. This is only accessible for children above the age of three. This has a result on parents/carers having zero childcare available unless private day care nurseries are willing to accept and can meet the care needs of a child with complex needs. This is sometimes impossible for nurseries to do, with staffing and the cost of one to one care being some of the reason they cannot accommodate these young children. Which then makes it difficult for both parents to work if they have no alternative childcare. We, as an organisation, would love to be able to give even more parents that choice to access an educational setting that can cater for a child with complex needs.
We aspire to develop our environment further to provide additional support to those in our community who are finding it difficult to secure child care. As a charitable organisation, we are non-profit making and our funding is limited. We have a vision of creating a sensory room, sensory garden and further personal care facilities, where all children will benefit.
Sensory rooms provide environments in which children can experience special sound and visual effects, tactile experiences, use of aromas and music in many combinations and variations. The educational activities in a sensory room focus on particular senses such as feel, sight, sound and smell, as well as the more abstract senses of wellbeing, space, time and togetherness. The result is a very special space in which children can completely relax and interact with and control the elements, all creating a positive inner working model for them.
With this in mind we would be most grateful if you could consider contributing to the resources we require.
