New Kitchen for Community Lunches

We need your help to raise £15,000 to set up a commercial kitchen at Trinity Methodist Church in Goosnargh so that we are better equipped to provide weekly Warm Welcome Community Lunches to everyone who wants to attend.

Trinity Methodist Church has been at the heart of the Goosnargh community since 1832. Although it has changed over the years, the sense of community spirit and commitment to the area has remained.

When we opened the chapel doors to create a warm space and community lunch at the height of the cost of living crisis, December 2022, we didn’t know who would come and how long it would be needed.

More than a year on, we have served more than 1300 meals and seen dozens of people come in to spend time together, with some of the regulars admitting that this is their only social outing during the week. What began as a light lunch quickly morphed into a traditional meal and dessert, served weekly throughout the winter months, and fortnightly during the summer. It now takes place every Wednesday throughout the winter months, and fortnightly during the summer - hosting up to 60 people at any given time.

The downside is that we are working out of a tiny kitchen that is not fit for purpose, which means that our team of volunteers often prepare food at home then bring it to the church to cook and serve. We have big plans moving forward - we want to extend our kitchen and refit it as a commercial kitchen, better suited to regularly cooking higher quantities of food.
