New Fire Station Funding

The English Consul Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1944 and this year marks our 75th year. Our current station was built in 1951 and we need to build a modern fire station to serve the needs of our community. Our community is a suburban, low to middle income diverse community in southwest Baltimore County. Currently our company runs two fire engines, an ambulance and brush truck. We must park our utility truck outside.
We are 100% volunteer and most of our operational funding comes from fundraising and social hall rentals. We are located in Baltimore County, MD near Halethorpe. The Baltimore County Government helps with some cost however; we must purchase our fire engine and ambulance with our funds and occasional grants.
Our station was built as a two bay station in 1951 with our social hall added later. The apparatus bay is limited in height, length and width. We have only about a foot between our four pieces of apparatus. Our property does not allow us to expand and therefore we plan to build a second floor across the entire station. In addition, we are rebuilding our apparatus bay to be larger. This new construction will also include new bunk rooms, shower/restrooms, a training room and physical fitness room. An expanded member area and offices for the company officers.
This new station will helps us continue in our role of neighbor helping neighbor.
In addition to replacing our station, we must replace our 25 year old fire engine at the same time.

This fund drive has been approved by President Donald Condon and Treasurer Gerald Mathison.
