THE PROJECT
For my birthday, I'm donating 70% of all of my gifts to 2 Non-Profits DOVES of Big Bear Valley and San Diego Young Artists Music Academy. The goal is to reach $3,000 by September 15th (my birthday), providing each organization with $1,000 for essential supplies and support.
THE NON- PROFITS:
70% of all my birthday gifts will be divided evenly and donated to two incredible organizations that are close to my heart:
1. DOVES of Big Bear Valley: This organization provides crucial intervention, education, and prevention services to those affected by domestic violence, helping them build safe and healthy lives. You can learn more about their mission and impact at Doves4help.org.
2. San Diego Young Artists Music Academy (SDYAMA): SDYAMA is dedicated to enhancing the lives of youth through music education and performances, helping steer them away from drugs, gangs, and violence. Find out more about their impactful work Sdyama.org/about.
THE GOAL (AND FINANCIAL BREAK DOWN):
Raise $3,000 by September 15th.
Here’s how it works:
- 70% of $3000 = $2,100
- $100 will help cover some of the GoFundMe transaction fees (2.9% + $0.30 per donation). I will cover the remaining with my 30%.
- $2,000/2 = $1,000 for each Non-Profit
HOW DONATIONS WILL BE USED:
DOVES: With $1,000 donation, DOVES will be able to provide essential supplies for the children in the safe houses for survivors of domestic violence. These supplies include: Baby wipes, Children's robes & sweatshirts, Small dolls (like Barbie dolls), Stuffed bears, Wooden puzzles, Children's card games.
Animal abuse and domestic violence are intricately linked. Studies unfortunately indicate that anywhere from 48% to 71% of abuse survivors have pets that have been abused or killed by the woman's partner. So, for all you animal lovers, they’ll also be using part of the donation to provide supplies for the pets of the survivors. These supplies include collars & leashes for dogs and cats, gift cards to petco for pet food, pet toys, and pet beds. Learn more about their mission and impact at Doves4help.org.
SDYAMA: SDYAMA provide inclusive afterschool programs that welcome kids from all backgrounds, offering them access to top-notch music education. With the $1,000 donation from this fundraiser, SDYAMA will fund musical scholarships for 5 deserving students, giving them the chance to continue their music education and pursue their love for music in a supportive and safe setting. With their ongoing efforts, this non-profit hopes to guide these young people away from negative influences and towards a healthier, happier life through the joy of music.
