Hello, my name is Walter, and I am a Boy Scout in Troop 101 from San Rafael, California. I recently completed my Eagle Scout Project, which involved building and installing three large wooden food lockers for the campsites at China Camp State Park. You can see photos of the finished lockers in the gallery.
China Camp does not receive state funding and relies entirely on volunteers and donations to keep the park running. The previous food lockers at the campsites were old, weathered, and leaking, and my project replaced them with sturdy, long-lasting redwood lockers that will help protect campers’ food from the elements, insects, and animals.
While the construction and installation are completed, I am still fundraising to cover the full cost of materials. I used construction-grade redwood and water-based stain to ensure the lockers remain durable and usable for many years to come.
This project has been a meaningful way for me and my troop to give back to a park we grew up loving. Thank you for taking the time to read about my project and for considering a donation or sharing the campaign!
