My name is Mona Pal and I am mother and a resident of Orange County California.

On August 26, 2026, in a matter of minutes, a wall of water, mud, and debris tore through communities in Nepal. Homes vanished. Roads and bridges disappeared. Families who had nothing to do with this disaster woke up with everything they had washed away.

Among the hardest hit are the ones who could least afford it. Nearly 157,000 women and girls in the flood zone are now facing life without clean water, without safety, without the basic services they relied on just days ago. Over 22,000 children have been affected — and right now, an estimated 2,600 children under the age of five need urgent treatment just to survive severe malnutrition. Thousands of pregnant and nursing mothers are going without the nutrition they and their babies desperately need.

Somewhere in Nepal tonight, a mother is holding her child, unsure where the next meal will come from. A young girl who once walked to school is now walking miles just to find clean water. This is happening right now, while we go about our lives.

But they can't do it without support.
