Title: Help Us Launch a 6-Month Psychosocial Support Program!
Introduction:
Hello, everyone. As some of you may already be aware, I am currently Volunteering in Nepal for HISCUS. HISCUS is an NGO that does an amazing job at improving the lives of many marginalised women and children here in Nepal. I have been privileged enough to see this work first hand and I have been amazed by the generosity and dedication from the team here.
The programmes Implemented by HISCUS range from life skills workshops where Children receive a good education and learn English, which, for them, is a life-changing skill that drastically improves their prospects of improving not just their lives but also their families. Furthermore, the pilot program in one of the community schools, in Kathmandu will be mostly focusing on children receiving counselling and attend mental health clinics where they can understand their feelings self reflectively and some of them aren't able to explore their emotions that they have suffered or are still suffering. These programmes play a pivotal role in helping to alleviate child suffering and expected to increase their academic performance.
Why donate to Nepal
Nepal is a country full of warm, friendly, and hardworking people who have welcomed me into their homes with open arms. It is a country which has 208 years of unbroken service to the British military where, for generations, the country's brightest and bravest young men have laid down their lives to protect British freedoms and our way of life only to return to a country which is impoverished and struggling to find its feet.
Our Mission:
Unfortunately, this is not enough to ensure that every child gets the help they need. Poverty and disease are just facets of the lives of these children, all of which have been exacerbated by the recent floods in Kathmandu, which have obliterated an entire slum neighbourhood, forcing many children onto the streets. If you would like to help prevent further children from having to suffer this torment, then please feel free to donate to this GoFundMe.
This GoFundMe will be used to help hire a mental health Nurse who can counsel and support both the women and the children affected by these issues. This will help us to identify vulnerable people and get them the help they need. The programme that will be implemented is six months long, so it can ensure that we reach out and positively help as many people as possible.
