Hi, I'm Björn Söderberg, Co-founder of Build up Nepal. Thank you for being here. We're raising funds to help families in Nepal who have lost their homes in the devastating floods of 26 August, 2026.

Part of a glacier and mountainside in the Himalayas collapsed into the river system, triggering a powerful flood that swept through communities within minutes. Homes, roads, bridges and essential infrastructure were destroyed.

At least 1,250 people are confirmed dead and more than 4,200 are still missing. Around 10,000 children are without a safe place to learn.

Families have lost everything in the middle of the monsoon and urgently need safe shelter and support to rebuild their lives.

Tuki Nepal Society Sweden is leading the fundraising and financial coordination through this GoFundMe campaign, while Build up Nepal will deliver the response directly in affected communities.

We are focusing on what communities need to recover:

> Building temporary homes After a disaster, families are usually

given a box of corrugated metal sheets. This provides a shelter,

but not a home. It becomes stifling in summer, freezing in winter,

noisy when it rains, and there is nowhere to cook. Our temporary homes have a solid base, an insulated roof and a kitchen. They are built to last the years it may take before families can move onto permanent land.

> Temporary learning centres Without getting children back to

school, recovery cannot truly begin. Temporary learning centres

give children a safe place to learn, regain routine and reconnect

with their community while schools are rebuilt.

> Restoring local access We are exploring where damaged trail

bridges and small crossings can be repaired or rebuilt so people,

aid and materials can move again.

We were here after the 2015 earthquake. We are here now, and

we will stay through the emergency and the rebuilding that

follows.

Build up Nepal was founded after the devastating 2015 Nepal earthquake. For more than a decade, we have worked with communities across the country to recover from disasters and build safe, affordable and disaster-resilient homes and schools. That experience will now guide our response to this emergency.
