Hi, I'm Björn Söderberg, Co-founder of Build up Nepal. We're raising funds to help families in Nepal who have lost their homes in the devastating floods of 26 August 2026.
Part of a glacier and mountainside in the Himalayas collapsed into the river system, triggering a powerful flood that swept through communities within minutes. Homes, roads, bridges and essential infrastructure were destroyed.
As of 1 September, more than 1,000 people have been confirmed dead and more than 3,900 remain missing. Thousands of families have been affected, and the full scale of the disaster is still unfolding.
For families who survived, the emergency is far from over. Many have lost everything in the middle of the monsoon and urgently need safe shelter and support to rebuild their lives.
Build up Nepal and Tuki Nepal Society Sweden are working together to respond. Tuki Nepal Society Sweden is leading the fundraising and financial coordination through this GoFundMe campaign, while Build up Nepal will deliver the response directly in affected communities in Nepal.
Funds raised will help provide:
>Emergency and temporary shelter for families who have lost their homes
>Temporary schools so children in affected communities can keep learning safely
>Safer accommodation for displaced families
>Support to move from temporary shelter into permanent housing
>Reconstruction of safer, more resilient homes
>Longer-term housing recovery in affected communities
Build up Nepal was founded after the devastating 2015 Nepal earthquake. For more than a decade, we have worked with communities across the country to recover from disasters and build safe, affordable and disaster-resilient homes and schools. That experience will now guide our response to this emergency. Please visit our website to learn more: www.buildupnepal.com
Every donation can help a family regain something fundamental, a safe place to live.
Your support will help families through the immediate crisis and, as recovery begins, help them rebuild homes and schools that are safer and more resilient to future disasters.
Please donate if you can, and share this campaign with others.
Together, we can help families recover, rebuild and find safe places to call home.
