<div>Hi, I'm <strong>Björn Söderberg</strong>, Co-founder of Build up Nepal. Thank you for being here. We're raising funds to help families in Nepal who have lost their homes in the devastating floods of 26 August, 2026.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Part of a glacier and mountainside in the Himalayas collapsed into the river system, triggering a powerful flood that swept through communities within minutes. Entire villages were destroyed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am raising money for families in Rasuwa and Nuwakot who lost their homes in the flood, together with our long-standing partner Tuki Nepal Society, a non-profit association based in Växjö.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At least 1,400 people are confirmed dead and more than 4,000 are still missing. Around 10,000 children are without a safe place to learn.
</div>

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Families have lost everything in the middle of the monsoon and urgently need safe shelter and support to rebuild their lives.
</div>
<div><br />

<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Tuki Nepal Society </strong>is leading the fundraising and financial coordination through this GoFundMe campaign, while <strong>Build up Nepal </strong>will deliver the response directly in affected communities.

<div><br />
</div>
<div><em>"Our team is now starting construction, beginning with the most</em>
</div>
<div><em>urgent needs: first toilets, then temporary homes and schools. We</em>
</div>
<div><em>are also supporting the national disaster authority with a team</em>
</div>
<div><em>member to help coordinate the immediate response.” </em>
</div>

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are focusing on what communities need to recover:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>&gt; <strong>Building temporary homes</strong> After a disaster, families are usually
</div>
<div>given a box of corrugated metal sheets. This provides a shelter,
</div>
<div>but not a home. It becomes stifling in summer, freezing in winter,
</div>
<div>noisy when it rains, and there is nowhere to cook. Our temporary homes have a solid base, an insulated roof and a kitchen. They are built to last the years it may take before families can move onto permanent land.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>&gt; <strong>Temporary learning centres</strong> Without getting children back to
</div>
<div>school, recovery cannot truly begin. Temporary learning centres
</div>
<div>give children a safe place to learn, regain routine and reconnect
</div>
<div>with their community while schools are rebuilt.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>We were here after the 2015 earthquake. We are here now, and</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>we will stay through the emergency and the rebuilding that</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>follows.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><a href="https://www.buildupnepal.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Build up Nepal</a> was founded after the devastating 2015 Nepal earthquake. For more than a decade, we have worked with communities across the country to recover from disasters and build safe, affordable and disaster-resilient homes and schools. That experience will now guide our response to this emergency.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Your support will help families through the immediate crisis and, as recovery begins, help them rebuild homes and schools that are safer and more resilient to future disasters.</strong>
</div>

<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Please donate, and share this campaign with others.</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>Together, we can help families recover, rebuild and find safe places to call home. Thank you. </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>How your donation reaches families</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Donations are paid out by GoFundMe directly to Tuki Nepal Society. Tuki Nepal transfers the funds to Build up Nepal, our organisation in Nepal, under a written funding agreement, as it has done for our earlier projects together.
</div>
<div>Our team on the ground uses the money to build toilets, temporary homes and temporary learning centres.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I co-founded Build up Nepal and am the organiser of this fundraiser and leading our response. We will post regular updates here with photos and progress, and Tuki Nepal reports on the funds in its annual accounts.
