During the month of August, reparations now cleveland is raising $15k for the NEO BIPOC Birth Collective! This group of dedicated birthworkers will use these funds to make homebirth accessible to families in their communities who chose to birth in safety outside of the medical industrial complex, as well as to train members of the Collective to broaden their skillsets.

In Ohio, Black birthing people are 2.2 times more likely to die from a cause related to pregnancy than white birthing people. (Ohio Department of Health, 2021). Black birthing people deserve the right to have safe, respectful care for themselves and their families. Especially now, as the reversal of Roe v Wade causes disproportionate harm to Black people.

As white people who pay reparations, it's time for us to focus our action and our dollars on the communities who are already experiencing and combating the most violent impacts of reproductive injustice: Black birthing people and BIPOC Birthworkers.
