Mutual Aid for Hall STEM Academy Families Impacted by Minneapolis ICE Raids
Families connected to Hall STEM Academy are facing sudden and overwhelming hardship following the recent ICE raids in Minneapolis. Many children and caregivers are now dealing with food insecurity, loss of income, housing instability, and the emotional toll of family separation and uncertainty.
This fundraiser is a community‑led mutual aid effort to make sure our neighbors have what they need to stay safe, stable, and supported during this crisis.
Please consider donating to help people on the Northside connected to Hall STEM Academy. Every dollar donated goes directly to families and will help provide:
- Groceries and food support
- Rental assistance and emergency housing needs
- Essential supplies like toiletries, diapers, clothing, and school materials
- Transportation support for school, appointments, and family needs
- Connection to trusted community resources
We are committed to distributing funds quickly, transparently, and based on the immediate needs families share with us.
Why This Matters
Hall STEM Academy is more than a school — it’s a community. When families are in crisis, children feel it most deeply. Mutual aid allows us to step in without barriers, judgment, or red tape. It’s neighbors supporting neighbors, making sure no one faces this alone.

Per the GoFundMe requirements here is additional information:
1. Relationship to people we are raising money for: I live in North Minneapolis. I am a neighbor collaborating with my community to provide aid to fellow Northsiders. The beneficiaries of this fundraiser are fellow Minneapolis residents who also live in the Northside and have community ties to Hall STEM. They are our immigrant neighbors and community specifically those targeted by ICE. Given the nature of the situation, the beneficiaries necessarily remain anonymous.
2. The funds initially go into an account in my name. From there we distribute to families.
3. Requests are received by the school social workers and family liaisons. They receive requests from families who are in crisis and requesting specific amounts to help with rent, utilities, groceries, and other urgent needs. Those needs are vetted by a team, including social workers and family liaisons. I withdraw those amounts from the account holding the GoFundMe funds (this fundraiser). For a few families it is a direct electronic from my account to a family's account. For most families, I provide the withdrawals in cash or check to other individuals that are also connected within immigrant communities who deliver directly to the families. We strive to protect people's privacy to allow them to stay safe in their homes. Please note, the beneficiaries are anonymous. As a donor, please know that and be okay with it when considering whether to donate.
4. Families request a specific dollar amount for specific needs such s rent, utilities, groceries, and other basic needs. We fully fund those requests where we can, and families spend the funds accordingly. Money is divided among families based on their specific request/need.
5. We request all donations will be used to fund requests from families amounts to partially fund any outstanding requests. On the off chance there are funds left over they will be donated to https://www.achievetwincities.org/
