Neighbors Helping Older At-Risk Neighbors

"What would we do without Palisades Village?"

The response to our campaign to help our older neighbors has been heartfelt and encouraging. Therefore, we are increasing our target to $7,500.00!

PALISADES VILLAGE COVID-19 Special Appeal

Many in our community have been devastated by the COVID - 19 Pandemic. Local businesses, schools, organizations and residents have all been greatly affected.

Palisades Village members and staff have been uniquely impacted by the COVID - 19 Pandemic.

COVID - 19 Impact on Palisades Village and its Members and Staff
Our members are in the high-risk population and are experiencing unique challenges. Our organization and staff have had to stretch resources to meet these new and critical needs. Many of our members have limited resources, lack the mobility to take care of things like shopping, and are especially fearful about going out into the public for any reason. Palisades Village is filling these needs.

In response to the crisis, Palisades Village activated its emergency contact list by neighborhood. Team captains are assigned to connect with every member while the stay-at-home order is in effect and will continue to check-in as long as necessary. In addition, the Village recruited volunteers to pick up groceries and prescriptions, and run errands so members can stay safe at home. Volunteer cooks started dicing and chopping and weekly make soup and other meals for our members. Others have distributed spring baskets of cheer and a family of volunteers is baking cookies and checking in with our members. Many of our members have phone buddies and receive friendly check-in calls. We expanded our services to help our associate members and outreach efforts to assist our neighbors in need.

Palisades Village set up a ZOOM account so our members, volunteers and community could participate in virtual programs and other activities to stay physically and mentally active, all in the comfort of their living room. We’ve also offered more supportive services and coping resources as we struggle to adjust to our changing times.

The Village also updated its website to keep our members informed, healthy, and connected to their community through its Coronavirus and Connect and Learn pages.

Although these have been trying times, what has never changed is
Palisades Village’s commitment to you. We will continue to care and help you remain happy, healthy and engaged in our Village.

Our staff has stepped up impressively to help our members get through this crisis. We are all very grateful!

Here are just a few kind words said about Palisades Village from our members:

“I want to thank you again for putting me in touch with Susan. She has been a life saver - getting groceries and making it possible for Charlie who is 93 with heart failure to have maximum protection from being exposed to the virus.”
 ~ Beth

“Today, Julie from the Village called to check up on how I am...So even during this unstable time, they have been superb.”
~ Sue

“Like all of us, I’m sure, I have known happier times in my life, but this gift raised my spirits and reminded me again of how lucky I am to have such caring neighbors.”
~ Jim

“You guys are just unbelievable to switch gears and make everything virtual! Thank you so much for all you do!”
~ Mandy

“Please convey my thanks to Elinor and Elise for making and delivering two huge containers of absolutely delicious leek-potato soup. It is much appreciated.”
~ Nancy

“I really enjoy Mary being my phone buddy. It’s nice to have someone to talk to!”
~ Connie

COVID-19 -  Impact on Palisades Village Finances
The COVID  19 crisis has dramatically impacted our revenues, most significantly, the cancellation of our annual house tour which represents a loss of $28,000.

We have been cutting any and all expenses, but these measures are not enough. We need the support of our amazingly generous community to fill the shortfall as much as possible.

Please help Palisades Village meet the continuing challenges ahead.
